How we calculate every number
Every number on LandNum follows the same transparent formulas, applied identically to people, countries, companies and names. Here is exactly how each one is produced.

Life Path number
The Life Path is derived from a full date of birth (YYYY-MM-DD). We sum every digit of the date and reduce the total to a single digit, stopping only on the master numbers 11, 22 and 33. For example, 1990-07-23 → 1+9+9+0+0+7+2+3 = 31 → 3+1 = 4. We never reduce 11, 22 or 33 because they carry distinct master-number meanings.
Destiny (Expression) number
The Destiny number is calculated from the full birth name using the Pythagorean letter-to-number system (A=1, B=2 … I=9, then repeating). We add the value of every letter in the name and reduce as above. This number describes the talents and direction encoded in a name.
Soul Urge (Heart’s Desire) number
The Soul Urge uses only the vowels of the full name (A, E, I, O, U), summed and reduced. It points to inner motivation — what a person or entity wants at the deepest level.
Personality (Dream) number
The Personality number uses only the consonants of the name, summed and reduced. It reflects the outward impression — how others first perceive the person, brand or country.
Country & company numbers
For nations we apply the Life Path formula to a defining date (independence or founding) and the Destiny formula to the official name. For companies we use the founding date and registered name. These are interpretive profiles, not predictions of policy or markets.
Compatibility scores
Pair scores combine the harmony of two Life Path numbers (using an established numerological compatibility matrix) with their Destiny numbers. Scores are relative indicators of energetic fit, not guarantees about any real relationship.
Zodiac, Chinese zodiac & ruling planet
Western zodiac signs are assigned from the standard tropical date ranges; Chinese zodiac from the lunar-year animal; and ruling planets from the traditional numerology planet correspondences. These are deterministic look-ups from the date of birth.
