Ecumenopolis (from Ancient Greek οἰκουμένη (oikouménē) 'the inhabited world' and πόλις (pólis) 'city'; lit. 'world city'; pl. ecumenopolises or ecumenopoleis) is the hypothetical concept of a planetwide city. It is primarily known as a stock setting in science fiction, but has also received serious consideration in theoretical city planning and futurist concepts.
How these numbers are calculated
Each number comes from the Pythagorean system applied to the title “Ecumenopolis”: the Destiny number uses all letters, the Heart’s Desire uses vowels only, and the Dream number uses consonants only. Letter values are summed and reduced until a single digit or master number (11, 22, 33) is reached.
