Saturn

Saturn governs the number 8 — the number of power, authority, karma, and worldly achievement. Often called the "Greater Malefic" in traditional astrology, Saturn is the planet of limitation, time, discipline, and consequence. But these are also the conditions of all genuine achievement: you cannot build an empire without structure, and you cannot accumulate real wisdom without confronting the reality of limits. Saturn teaches what the 8 must master.

Saturn's symbol — the cross of matter above the crescent of the soul — is often interpreted as the weight of the material world pressing down on spirit. The ringed planet, beautiful in its severe geometry, embodies the 8's core paradox: perfect circular freedom bounded by perfect structure. Saturn's rings are composed of ice and rock — crystallized water, frozen time.
