The Trust Challenge
Learning to trust life, others and the invisible
Challenge 7 indicates that developing genuine faith — in yourself, in others and in the unseen order of things — is your primary growth edge. You may use intellectual scepticism as a defence against vulnerability, retreat into isolation to avoid the painful complexity of relationships, or swing between cynical materialism and naive magical thinking.
Core lesson
Develop genuine trust through direct experience — not through naive belief or intellectual proof. Allow yourself to be known by others, even when it is uncomfortable. Find the evidence of meaning in your own life.
How Challenge 7 shows up
- Deep distrust of others' motivations — expecting betrayal
- Excessive isolation; treating solitude as a permanent state rather than a resource
- Intellectualising as a defence against feeling or believing
- Alternatively: naive credulity — trusting everything uncritically
- Difficulty relaxing into relationships or situations beyond your control
- Scepticism that prevents genuine spiritual or inner inquiry
How to work with it
- Make a practice of noticing evidence of meaning and synchronicity in daily life
- Allow yourself to be vulnerable with at least one person who has earned that trust
- Distinguish between healthy discernment and defensive cynicism
- Develop a contemplative practice (meditation, journaling) to access your inner knowing
- Let your intellectual rigour serve your spiritual inquiry rather than block it
The gift hidden in this challenge
Integrated Challenge 7 produces extraordinarily deep thinkers and genuine seekers — those who have tested their faith against scepticism and arrived at a trust in life that is genuinely earned and unshakeable.
