Kabbalistic Numerology

Kabbalistic Numerology reads a person primarily through the vibration of their name rather than their birth date, drawing on the mystical framework of Jewish Kabbalah. Its foundation is the Tree of Life: ten sephirot, or divine emanations, connected by twenty-two paths that correspond to the twenty-two letters of the Hebrew alphabet. Every number and letter therefore points to a specific place in a spiritual map of creation.

One popular modern form reduces the numerical value of a name and takes the remainder after dividing by nine, mapping the result to one of a set of name-vibrations. Traditional Kabbalah is subtler: it reads names through gematria and locates their letters and values on the Tree of Life, interpreting how a name channels the flow of divine energy through the sephirot.

What makes the system distinctive is its focus on the name — the identity a soul carries — over the date of birth used in most Western numerology. Because the Tree of Life has twenty-two paths matching the twenty-two Hebrew letters, Kabbalistic practice also sees a deep structural link between letters, numbers and the tarot's twenty-two Major Arcana, three systems mapping the same underlying architecture of the cosmos.

How to calculate

Traditional method: convert the name to Hebrew, apply gematria letter-values, and read the totals and letters against the sephirot and paths of the Tree of Life. A common simplified method: sum the name's letter values and take the remainder mod 9 to find its ruling vibration.
