Karmic Lessons
The digits from 1 to 9 that are entirely absent from your full birth name — the capacities you were not issued at birth and must therefore acquire the hard way.
Karmic Lessons are defined by absence, which makes them one of the stranger ideas in numerology and one of the more persuasive. Convert every letter of your full birth name to a number and some digits will appear many times, some once, and some not at all. The missing ones are the Karmic Lessons: qualities that do not come pre-installed and must be built deliberately, usually after several unpleasant demonstrations of not having them.
They should not be confused with Karmic Debt, which is a different concept entirely. Karmic Debt (13, 14, 16, 19) suggests a specific misuse of power being repaid. A Karmic Lesson suggests nothing so dramatic — only a gap. A name with no 4s in it does not describe a person being punished for laziness. It describes someone for whom order, method and follow-through are simply not native, and who will keep colliding with that fact until they build the discipline themselves.
Most people have between one and three Karmic Lessons. Having none is rare and not necessarily fortunate — it can indicate a life with less obvious friction and correspondingly less obvious growth. Having four or more is also uncommon and tends to describe a genuinely demanding life, though numerologists are careful to point out that the missing number is a lesson rather than a verdict. The whole premise is that it can be learned.
How to calculate
Convert every letter of your full birth name to its Pythagorean value (A=1, B=2 … I=9, J=1 …). Tally how many times each digit from 1 to 9 appears. Any digit with a count of zero is a Karmic Lesson.
